It was around this time last year that I first met Asha and Dan, who attended a wedding fair I was exhibiting at. I remember our discussions about their Channels wedding in Essex, as I have a soft spot for the venue.
As with all the couples that I meet, I promised to keep in touch and sent them my brochure and information. After a couple of phone calls answering questions I put together their ideal photography package and was soon confirmed as their wedding photographer. Needless to say, I was excited about shooting their Little Channels wedding day.
The day started out grey and with a little drizzle, but thankfully it quickly cleared up and stayed away until just after their group photos.
On the morning of the wedding, I met with Asha and her bridesmaids, and set myself to work, capturing all those little detail shots which are great additions to a wedding album, as well as the bridal preparations as they unfolded.
The atmosphere was calm and relaxed which was most unusual, but quite refreshing from the normal chaos that ensues on a wedding day.
Whilst Asha was getting into her dress I headed over to meet with Dan and the boys for a few pre-ceremony photos before heading back to Asha for more photos.
Asha wowed guests in a ruby coloured lace ballgown, while her ladies wore A-line white dresses, complementing her’s perfectly. Everything was effortlessly tired together with pops of ruby carried throughout accessories, flowers and finishing touches.
The ceremony was held in the gardens at Little Channels, with Asha’s bridesmaids leading the way with Ryan and Jayvee, Asha and Dan’s boys. A nervous Dan was patiently waiting (Asha was running a little late at this point) with one of his best men at the front and soon the ceremony was underway.
After the beautiful ceremony we had a few group photos before I stole the happy couple away for some creative photos around the grounds.
Despite unpredictable weather, it was thankfully on our side as we captured some photos around the gorgeous grounds.
Shortly before being seated for the wedding breakfast I lined the guests up for a confetti photo after which the heavens opened – the timing couldn’t have been better.
The gorgeous finishing touches continued into the reception room, which was dressed to perfection.
Jayvee opened the speeches by telling stories of how Asha and Dan first got together and shared some of his fondest memories, generating lots of laughter. Then it was Dan’s turn, followed by one of his best men who shared some of his happy times with Dan whilst also expressing how sad he was to be losing Dan to Asha. He proceeded to give Dan some mock divorce papers claiming that their relationship was now officially over and a t-shirt with the slogan: ‘I’m loyal babe’ before saying that he couldn’t have lost his best friend to a better person.
Just when everyone thought the speeches had concluded Jayvee picked up the microphone as he still had several pages of his speech to finish, which he did in true style.
After the wedding breakfast I grabbed Asha and Dan for some more photos as the rain had stopped (briefly) before heading back in for the cake cutting. We made use of the gorgeous lighting as the sun set, with these photos serving as one of the highlights of the day.
Although the cutting of the cake is usually followed with the first dance, DJ Jimmy Lee had other ideas and kicked off the night with a Mr & Mrs game, where some of the answers erupted the place with laughter.
Congratulations Asha and Dan. Wishing you many amazing years together!
Lovely photos Marc. Congratulations to the happy couple and its a nice insight for our own wedding with yourself next June!
