I’ve known Lee for a couple of years as a business associate. He is a very talented graphic designer and has helped to design my promotional materials and graphics for my exhibition stand. Through this, we’ve had the chance to get to know each other a little. So when he contacted me to see if I’d be available to photograph his upcoming Chalkwell Park wedding, I was thrilled. Obviously he had seen my work and I am sure those of many other photographers, so it was a real honour that he asked me to photograph his special day.
Lee, looking very smart on the left with his brother, dad and son, Ethan before the ceremony. I love this combination of orange and navy, and the pops of colour continued throughout the day.
Bride Laura with her mum and dad ahead of the ceremony. Laura wore a gorgeous fitted lace gown, which draped beautifully into a short train.
Although it was a winter’s day, the weather remained dry and bright, which was perfect for pre-wedding photos.
Lee looked calm with his brother and best man, as they waited for Laura to arrive.
Laura and Lee held their wedding ceremony at their local registry office in Southend-on-Sea. It was an intimate affair, with their family, closest friends and work colleagues gathering to watch them exchange their vows.
After the ceremony, we took the opportunity to grab some photos with guests before heading off to Chalkwell Park for their creative photos, wedding breakfast and evening entertainment.
Chalkwall Park is very well known to me as I’ve held many photo sessions there in the past. I just love the surroundings that the park offers and it didn’t disappoint as I grabbed a few quiet moments with the bride and groom alone to capture some photos of just the two of them.
With an afternoon ceremony and being winter the light was against us meaning I had to be super organised and creative to get some daytime shots.
I love a challenge and as the sun started to set my excitement grew. This allowed me to not only provide them with those beautiful, natural light photos but it also afforded me the chance to offer them something a little different by using my own creative lighting. And as the sun set, the backdrop was stunning, so naturally we made the most of it.
Congratulations Laura and Lee. Thanks for inviting me to capture your special day. Wishing you many years of happiness together!
