Claire and Dan’s engagement session took place at a favourite spot of mine – the always popular, Hylands Park and Gardens.
I first met the happy couple at a wedding fair, where we quickly got talking about the plans for their wedding at Newland Hall in Essex next year. While they were browsing my gallery of photos, a photo of their friend’s wedding popped up on the display screen. As it turned out, I photographed their friend’s wedding a few years ago, along with photos of their chosen wedding venue. This got us talking about how great their venue was.
Given that I have shot at their chosen wedding venue before, I was able to offer plenty of suggestions for their wedding day photography. They both loved my photography and albums and because we hit it off, the next step was to arrange an engagement session.
And so we choose the stunning Hylands Park and Gardens to mark a special time in their lives. This session also afforded them the chance to get a real feel for my working style and whether our personalities meshed further. This is why I always recommend couples participate in an engagement session.
The weather was typically autumnal – dry, cold and bright, which proved perfect for photos. The garden’s greenery was still dominant with only a scattering of auburn leaves serving as the perfect contrast of colour.
We moved freely throughout the garden, using its key locations and capturing some beautiful photos of the couple, who quickly relaxed into the session.
Thankfully, once they saw the finished photos they had no doubts, concerns or worries and booked me there and then to ensure they didn’t miss out on their wedding date.
I’m really looking forward to photographing their big day next October. Happy planning guys.
