I absolutely love the opportunity to do something a little bit different, so I was thrilled to be invited to capture Lorna and Neil’s Olympic Park pre-wedding session.
I first met the happy couple at one of my busiest wedding fairs last year. As they set to task booking the elements of their wedding day, they popped by for a chat about their plans and what they had in mind for their wedding photography. As we talked, I quickly realised that their vision very much matched my style of photography and I knew that we would work really well together.
After chatting some more about their wedding (which sounds like it’ll be an amazing day), they looked through my work – commenting on how much they loved it – and we discussed packages available. Soon after, they booked me to photograph their wedding. The package they chose included a pre-wedding session so I was looking forward to getting to know the couple a little better.
As Neil proposed to Lorna at Olympic Park in Stratford, London, we deemed it the perfect location for their pre-wedding session. As I haven’t shot here before, I was excited to check out the venue with a difference.
The weather was (thankfully) gorgeous, which always makes my job easier, as does working with a couple who are at ease. Lorna and Neil soon relaxed into the shoot and we even recreated their amazing proposal scene – check out the photo below.
We moved around the area where country met urban, meaning we could easily take advantage of the many stylish backdrops. I loved the pops of colour, both from the nature and man-made structures, which really added another dimension to their photos. I am especially a fan of the bold pink backdrop, which allowed the couple to effortlessly stand out against it.
As well as marking a significant time in their lives together, another major advantage of a pre-wedding shoot is that it gives the couple a chance the experience being photographed together, so that it isn’t an entirely new and daunting experience on their wedding day. I have no doubt that Lorna and Neil’s love for each other will shine through on the big day itself – just as it has here!
Good luck guys. I can’t wait for the wedding next month.
