I remember Barbara and Ade’s wedding day well. The happy couple were married on 4th November 2017 and guests loved every minute of their Hylands House wedding reception.
As they approach their first wedding anniversary, I took the chance to catch up with Barbara about their amazing wedding day. Here is what she had to say…
Barbara, tell us how you met
We met at Coventry University in spring 2007 during a get together in my house. As they say, the rest is history.
And what about that proposal?
The proposal happened on the 25th April 2013. We went out for dinner to TGI Fridays. During conversation and having dinner, Ade brought out the ring and went down on one knee and asked me to marry him. And obviously I said yes!!
When and where did you get married?
We were married on the 4th November 2017 in Chelmsford. We had a church ceremony at the Parish Church of St Mary, Widford and the reception followed at Hylands house.
Did you have theme for your wedding day?
We went for luxurious and intimate with an ivory and gold colour scheme to tie it all beautifully together.
Tell us how you chose your wedding dress?
I have always had an idea of the type of dress that would suit my body type. I visited about three boutiques and tried on few dresses but I had a very clear vision of what I wanted. I chose a lace dress with a sweetheart neckline, no sleeves, and a mermaid style silhouette.
Who did you have as your bridesmaids?
I had six bridesmaids and they were all friends from my childhood. They had blush pink dresses, slim in their fit with a flare skirt, V-neckline and V-back shape.
What did you love the most about wedding planning?
Seeing all the details come together at the end was just wonderful. It’s lovely to know that all that hard work paid off.
What 3 top tips would you offer other brides?
- Be organised
- Enjoy the process as it goes fast
- Hire a wedding planner/on the day coordinator if you can afford it
How did you decide on Marc as your wedding photographer?
We met at a wedding event at Hylands House and saw his work and were impressed. He showed so much professionalism and we thought he would be the ideal person to capture our day. He was very helpful in terms of locations and poses etc, which just made having our photographs taken effortless.
